December 15, 2007 Miss Hampton Holly Days/Miss Hampton-Newport News Holiday Party
December 17, 2007 Yesterday Tee met w/ Ms. Wallace's 5th graders to stuff the "Tee's Stuff
Bag's" to give to the Hanover County Department of Social Services
Foster Children.  This is a follow up to her meeting on December 3rd that
initiated a school wide drive for items for "Tee's Stuff Bags".  This
school wide drive at Pearson's Corner Elementary School was so generous
that once the needs of the Hanover County Social Services are met, she
plans on creating more bags for the Hanover County Foster Care group
homes and perhaps extend the effort to the city of Richmond's Foster
Care department.

Story:
PCES students collect goodies for foster kids

Students in Anne Wallace's fifth grade class were reading Maniac Magee when they
heard about Taylor Witte, a senior at Atlee High School, who started a new
program for the foster kids of Hanover County. It is a smaller version of the
national program called the My Stuff Bags Organization (
www.mystuffbags.org).
The program helps provide basic necessities for foster kids, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, hairbrushes etc.

Maniac Magee is the mythical tale of a legendary hero: 12-year-old Jeffrey Magee
- known as Maniac Magee. An orphan with no place to call home, Maniac Magee

enters Two Mills, a town sharply divided by race. Magee's athletic skills,
combined with his nonjudgmental way, lead the people of Two Mills to overcome
segregation, racial profiling, and ignorance.
