Fundraiser for Ashley Thomas (17 years old). Ashley is fighting a very rare form of cancer. A’Leah is collecting donations for her through her platform C3. One thing A’Leah would like to do first is get Ashley a new wig and a laptop so she can keep up with her school work from home. In the picture is Ashley, A’Leah and Haley (a friend of Ashley’s).

A’Leah participated in the Z104 Stuff the Bus for Toys for Tots on Friday, December 4th. She is pictured with Ashley Smith, Miss Hampton Roads, Taylor Burrell, Miss Va’s OPT, Shaggy from Z104 and Barbara Ciara and Blaine Stewart from News Channel 3. Also pictured with a few of our fine Marines!

Youth Matter Inc. hosts its 9th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Youth Oratorical Competition / President Volunteer Service Awards Event.

A’Leah was a guest at the at the 2010 Martin Luther King Jr Youth Oratorical Competition & President’s Volunteer Service Awards program and she was awarded with a Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award for putting in over 100 hours of community service in 2009.
January 30, 2010 Please join Miss Hampton-Newport News’ Outstanding Teen A’Leah Burrell on Saturday, January 30th as she hosts a Miss America party. Proceeds will benefit her platform, C3: Combating for a Cancer Cure.

A'Leah attended the Heart of the Arc Ball. It was a Valentine’s Day dance for the Arc of Greater Williamsburg. The Mission of The Arc of Greater Williamsburg is to improve the well-being of older teens to senior citizens with intellectual disabilities through the provision of monthly social, educational, and recreational activities, while providing respite for their families and caregivers. The girls were invited by Lizzy Mothershead to volunteer at this event.
February 23, 2010 A’Leah participated in the IHOP National Pancake Day to benefit the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. They volunteered at the IHOP on Battlefield Blvd in Chesapeake. They helped collect $1,581.46. Over 1200 guests and 1,100 pancakes were served.


Taylor, Andolyn, Tameka and A’Leah stand in front of the donation box where over $1500 was collected.


Other titleholders were also there to help including Trisha Darling, Miss Norfolk’s Outstanding Teen.
