Rosemary spoke to about 30 "Brownies" at the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast meeting on Wednesday 3/9. We discussed benefits of exercise, consequences of not being active, and ways that the girls can incorporate physical fitness into their everyday lives. The group came up with several moves that would be muscle and bone strengthening as well as aerobic exercise and was also excited about trying to incorporate more activities into their meetings that would promote healthy living!

I read to 1st grade classes at Matthew Whaley Elementary School in Colonial Williamsburg. I read a Dr. Seuss book called "Oh the Things You Can Do that are Good for You!", and talked to the students about staying healthy and getting exercise.

I spoke at CHKD's "Healthy You" lifestyle program to children and their parents. The program is designed to help overweight children avoid the medical complications associated with childhood obesity by educating them on nutrition, exercise, and goal-setting. After speaking, I lead the kids in recreation and fitness activities.

Rosemary volunteered at a Chesapeake Regional Hospital Fundraiser at Chesapeake Farms. I got to play games with the children, help with the huge Easter Egg hunt with the Easter Bunny, and speak on stage about the Miss VA organization. People helped the local hospital by paying to take hot air balloon rides, play corn hole, listen to a live band, and eat delicious food.

I was truly honored to spend some time with our veterans today! I was able to talk to many about their experiences in the military and thank them for their service to our nation, as well as dance and play different carnival games with them.
